About The Position

Incumbent is responsible for receiving, storing, and maintaining a wide assortment of supplies, materials, and equipment. Gathers items for issue and shipment while maintaining a constant inventory of all items. Reviews orders and receipts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Arranges and stores items in consideration of quantity, size, shape, weight, type, and frequency issued. Assignments performed at data central warehouse or a field facility. Performs general maintenance on tools and equipment. Incumbent is subject to an adjusted workweek and irregular work hours due to emergencies. Required to work on weekends and holidays as needed. May be assigned on an engine at times to help with suppression duties. Examples of Work Performed: Suppression duties as assigned such as Engine Boss, Engine Operator, Dozer Boss and Firefighter 1 or 2. Receives, organizes, stores, and ships small or bulk orders of supplies, materials, and equipment. Reviews incoming supply orders. Unloads and examines, counts, sorts, weight and marks incoming items. Discrepancies are noted on the order and reported to immediate supervisor. Supplies are arranged and stored within the warehouse floor plan. As needed, some items are placed on pallets. For storage purposes, consideration is given item size, shape, weighs, quantity, spoilage, pilferage, and contamination. On a regular basis, items are examined for deterioration and damage, and reported to supervisor. Ensures all fire management equipment, such as pumps, power saws, light plants, are properly stored for winter months. During fire season, ensures equipment is readily available in good condition for use. Sharpens shovels/Pulaskis, changes oil, paints tools and equipment, cleans and rolls fire hose. Receives requisitions to withdraw items from stock. Checks for availability and prepares goods for shipment. Maintains freight handling equipment, checks fuel, oil, tires, and batteries. Maintains warehouse to ensure it is clean and organized. Utilizes a forklift to load, unload, and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment. Abide by Yakama Nation Rules and Regulations.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic firefighting and suppression related duties.
Knowledge of warehouse operating policies, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and practices.
Knowledge of basic purchasing policies and procedures.
Knowledge of inventory control practices and procedures.
Knowledge of filing procedures and practices to manage a record keeping system.
Knowledge of Yakama Nation road system and landmarks.
Ability to work long hours under stress during fire emergencies.
Ability to read maps.
Ability to use a computer and basic computer software, preferably Word and Excel.
Ability to apply general mathematics.
Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to work independently and productively.
Ability to assemble data and prepare reports accurately and timely.
Ability to perform strenuous physical labor, i.e. lift 50 pounds repetitively during work day.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively on a two-way radio system.
Ability to operate a forklift and use a hand truck.
High School or equivalent.
One year warehouse work related experience involving inventory, stocking receiving and delivering.
Required to pass pre-employment drug test.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Must be able to drive a standard shift vehicle.
Required to take and pass the annual firefighter physical exam.
