About The Position

The Warehouse Supervisor serves as a leader and provides guidance for all warehouse labor duties. Responsible for directing daily activities of the warehouse including labor, scheduling, and supervision of day-to-day operations. Oversees and provides training to warehouse associates following Metropolitan’s set standards and quality guidelines for loading, unloading, packaging and scan discipline. Oversees inventory levels, monitors the safety of goods, and ensures the efficient usage of warehouse space. Assigns tasks and aids Warehouse Manager with all shipping and receiving responsibilities. Assists and provides guidance for different warehouse duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, specifically in transportation industry
  • Previous knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate others and work with a variety of people
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Pushing and Pulling: Ability to push and pull wheeled carts or pallet jacks loaded with merchandise
  • Bending, Stooping, and Reaching: Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead frequently
  • Physical Stamina: Demonstrate physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and manipulate small parts or delicate items with precision
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to address urgent operational needs

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and evaluates the safety of each Warehouse Associate on a daily basis; trains on safety processes as needed
  • Leads daily stand up with all Team Lead(s) updating all warehouse associates with daily goals and tasks
  • Leads daily Safety meeting and stretching activity
  • Keeps work in front of Lead(s) and associates
  • Plans daily workload with management
  • Completes daily yard check as necessary
  • Assures Leads and Team members are following all Metropolitan policies and procedures for their respective segments
  • Notifies Manager of any Associate issues.
  • Track Warehouse associate’s attendance
  • Assures all product is handled in a safe and professional manner (arrows up)
  • Meets all outbound and inbound deadlines
  • Coordinates with other Shift Warehouse Supervisors setting up the workload for next shift start
  • Minimizes Warehouse Associate OT
  • Meets all KPI goals
  • Adequately responds to all emails in a timely manner
  • Assures all dock searches are completed in a timely manner
  • Walks the Warehouse area frequently assuring items are placed properly in location and accurately scanned
  • Keeps warehouse clean and free of any trash or debris
  • Monitors all equipment (MHE & IT) ensuring all are checked-out and accounted for upon return
