About The Position

Ensures materials are received from proper vendors, that they are delivered to inventory, and that finished goods are packaged according to specification and shipped in a timely manner. Reviews receipt of all materials to ensure purchase orders are open and the quality of materials received is correct. Ensures the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control. Ensures materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped as per marketing schedules. Establishes and modifies operational methods and procedures. Maintains documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Partners with the DC Manager in directing all distribution activities including shipping, receiving, inventory and administrative tasks to ensure company requirements are met. Partners with the DC Manager for training and understanding the job duties and procedures of the Inventory, Inbound and outbound manager to assist in those departments in the absence of the manager. Acts as main point of contact for all inquiries regarding outbound shipments, inbound receipts and inventory issues. Works with internal partners (Sales, Regulatory and Quality Affairs) regarding orders shipped. Answers questions and provides information to resolve any outstanding issues in a timely manner. Proactively communicates issues to appropriate individuals. Provides input for efficient organization and layout of the DC by optimizing processes for picking, packing, shipping, receiving and inventorying while maintaining DC compliance with all governmental agencies and their regulations. Gathers feedback regarding the customer expectations, makes recommendations to the outbound, inbound and inventory manager through the DC Manager, and implements appropriate changes to continually improve the customer’s experience. Provides daily status updates to the DC Manager to review prior day’s performance and to develop action plan for current day. Inventory Understand and execute standard operating procedures of all inventory processes. Included but not limited to communicating to Purchasers, Vendors and internal DC’s on the subject of Inventory. Process Vendor Returns. Process return logistics of unsalable product. Cycle count and date check. Including Controlled Substance. Inbound Understand and execute standard operating procedures of all inbound processes. Included but not limited to communicating to Purchasers, Vendors and internal DC’s on the subject of Receiving. Setting appointments up for deliveries. Communicate to internal departments like Compliance. Offload trucks. Including Controlled Substance. Outbound Understand and execute standard operating procedures of all outbound processes. Included but not limited to Picking orders, manifest orders, order start and loading trucks on the subject of outbound. Including Controlled Substance. Decision-making authority: Position required to instruct and make decisions based on direction of the manager, specifically, when the manager is out of the office. Acts as first level of leadership. Resolves conflict and is a critical thinker. Monitor and empower safety protocol.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with preference for a major in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, or other business-related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse or production environment.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a leadership role in a warehouse or production environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems. Specifically, JBA System 21 preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of WMS systems. Specifically, Manhattan Scale preferred but not required.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft and computer skills.
  • Experience and knowledge in distribution processes (receiving, shipping and inventory control) required.
  • Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
  • Forklift Certification desired.
  • Green belt or equivalent in Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma preferred.
