About The Position
Full Time Who We Are: Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company (PWADC) supplies 250 Piggly Wiggly and other branded supermarkets throughout the southeast with over 20,000 grocery, produce, frozen and other products from our 900,000 sq/ft. warehouse in Bessemer, AL. Job Summary: As part of a team of warehouse supervisors, you'll be responsible for supervising a team of order selectors, forklift drivers and truck loaders tasked with pulling grocery, perishable or frozen orders, palletizing product, and loading semi-tractor truck trailers on deadline for shipment to stores. You'll typically. work from 6pm to 2:30am on five days of our six-day Sunday through Friday shipping week. The warehouse environment incorporates ambient, refrigerated and frozen sections.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to your team.
- Ensure your dock area is fully staffed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and see that employees are properly trained.
- Supervise unionized hourly team members to ensure individual quantity and quality standards are met.
- Using the shift work plan manage your operation to ensure that all shipments are accurate and verified and that trailers are correctly loaded, on-time.
- Create accurate shipping records.
- Identify and solve problems with the order process, truck loading, order picking technology, etc.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other shipping supervisors and managers.
- Appropriately address employee performance, conduct and attendance issues.
