SCOPE OF POSITION: The Warehouse Supervisor directs the activities of the warehouse to ensure safe and efficient production of donated goods as directed by the Regional Store Manager. Supervises warehouse staff in daily production, baling of recyclable items, organization of warehouse, and ordering supplies as needed.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • One year of demonstrated experience in warehouse environment or equivalent type work.

  • If employee owns his/her own vehicle, must possess current auto insurance for instances in which a personal vehicle is used on TSA time and/or business. Please note that TSA adheres to the federal standards regarding mileage reimbursement
  • Must have a valid state Driver's License and be age 21 or older to drive a vehicle, per TSA policy

Responsibilities

  • Training and supervision of all employees, volunteers and auxiliary staff working in the warehouse. Handling of personnel matters and documentation required.
  • Provide specific written input with reference to the annual evaluations of employees and evaluations.
  • Provide regularly scheduled staff meetings with all production personnel to communicate the goals of the organization and recommendations for improving operations.
  • Ensure that all staff and volunteers will be thoroughly orientated in safety and accident policy and procedures as outlined in The Salvation Army Employee Handbook.
  • Provide training and supervision of all employees, volunteers, and auxiliary staff working in the warehouse.
  • Responsible for quality and quantity control in all areas of production.
  • Provide quarterly documentation to support the pricing of merchandise using other thrift stores in the community as a comparison. Prices in the store will be adjusted to effectively remain viable in the general geographic area.
  • Operate a forklift and complete any required training and certification.
  • Maintain supplies used in daily production and the upkeep of tools, ordering supplies as needed, with the approval of the Regional Store Manager, as needed.
  • Responsible for the proper disposal of non-saleable items (baled clothing, purses, belts, chemicals, etc.)
  • Ensure all clothing will have dated & color-coded tagging and will remain on the sales floor at full and markdown prices for specific periods.  It will be ragged out in a timely manner in general accordance with standard Salvation Army Thrift Store practices.
  • Maintain the workstations, walkways and surrounding areas to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ensure monthly safety inspections are conducted in accordance with Salvation Army Policy.
  • Responsible for ensuring that production staff positively acknowledge and treat all customers in a courteous manner.
  • In coordination with the Assistant Store Manager, supervises all warehouse related non-exempt warehouse employees, volunteers, and community service workers.
  • Handle customer complaints in a courteous, professional manner. Personally handle complaints with regard to the donation and production areas and immediately notify the Regional Store Manager of the facts surrounding the complaint and the disposition thereof.
  • Perform duties such as pricing, sorting, hanging, and maintaining a clean and organized production area.
  • Assist customers on the sales floor, help carry out purchased merchandise, and operate the cash register as needed.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled and mandatory staff meetings regardless of whether they are outside a scheduled shift or standard workday.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at 5 years eligible service time, employee funded voluntary 403(b) options
  • Parental Leave: Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee’s normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.
  • Sick Leave: 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months’ service time.
  • Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months’ service time.
  • Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
