Role Overview : The Warehouse Supervisor, located in University Park, Illinois, and reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, is a key figure in the management of warehouse operations. This role is essential in overseeing critical functions such as shipping, receiving, and inventory management. This position demands a unique combination of leadership qualities and hands-on participation, ensuring the warehouse operates efficiently and effectively. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for upholding quality standards and spearheading continuous process improvements within the warehouse. This role is pivotal in maintaining operational excellence, requiring a professional who can adeptly balance strategic oversight with practical involvement in daily warehouse activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse setting.
  • Proven experience in warehouse management, with a strong focus on shipping and receiving operations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of directing a diverse team and liaising effectively with other departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple functions within the warehouse.
  • Knowledge of best practices in warehouse logistics, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems and software relevant to shipping and receiving processes, with familiarity in ERP systems, particularly Oracle.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing operational demands.
  • Experience in continuous process improvement and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution of goods.
  • Manage and supervise the shipping and receiving functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Track, coordinate, and ensure efficient handling of all shipments and deliveries, maintaining accurate records.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures for incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Supervise warehouse staff, ensuring effective operation and employee performance, including training in shipping and receiving protocols.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse layout for efficient shipping and receiving operations.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager to align warehouse activities with broader supply chain objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Analyze and improve warehouse processes and systems for better efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely supply and movement of materials and finished products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
