About The Position

The Warehouse Supervisor – Inventory Control is responsible for safely maintaining inventory accuracy, integrity, and storage of all finished goods across multiple locations. Significant focus on driving advanced slotting strategies, ensuring products are strategically located based on velocity, demand patterns, and product characteristics (e.g., indoor vs. outdoor storage), enabling efficient picking, replenishment, and space utilization across the distribution center. This role supports Receiving and Inventory Control personnel and reports directly to the Distribution and Logistics Center Manager.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of slotting methodologies (ABC analysis, velocity-based placement)
  • Advanced SAP knowledge related to inventory and warehouse structure
  • Analytical mindset with strong Excel/data skills
  • Ability to translate data into actionable warehouse improvements
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional communication
  • Team mentality, taking initiative to collaborate across multiple areas of the business (ie. sales, planning, accounting, transportation, warehouse operations etc.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse or logistics environment
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, particularly loading and shipping procedures
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safety and compliance

Responsibilities

  • Lead slotting initiatives to align product placement with velocity (fast, medium, slow movers)
  • Continuously evaluate SKU movement using SAP in addition to other data driven tools to optimize pick paths, reduce travel time and improve labor optimization
  • Assign and maintain optimal storage types (e.g. pick-pack, bulk, small components, outdoor areas) based on product characteristics
  • Ensure proper placement of indoor vs. outdoor inventory considering environmental requirements and handling constraints
  • Re-slot inventory as demand patterns shift (seasonality, promotions, new SKUs)
  • Partner with operations to minimize touches and improve picking and replenishment efficiency
  • Utilize SAP WM/EWM tools to analyze stock by bin, storage type, and movement frequency
  • Maintain accurate storage bin assignments and material master data (dimensions, storage conditions, MRP indicators if applicable)
  • Monitor and validate system-directed putaway and replenishment strategies
  • Strategically coordinate transport of finished goods across all locations
  • Ensure alignment between physical inventory and SAP system records. Two Annual Physical inventories
  • Implement and maintain best-in-class daily cycle count practices to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Oversee cycle counts and inventory audits with focus on high-velocity and critical SKUs
  • Investigate discrepancies with emphasis on location errors and mis-slotted product
  • Maintain pristine inventory conditions of goods and wood pallets, ensuring finished products are appropriately wrapped, stacked, and banded onto quality pallets
  • Drive corrective actions tied to slotting, process gaps, or system misuse
  • Ensure forward pick locations are properly stocked based on velocity and demand
  • Define and sustain appropriate min/max levels and replenishment triggers
  • Coordinate with replenishment and receiving teams to maintain slotting integrity
  • Provide direction and support to associates regarding daily tasks and responsibilities
  • Analyze SKU velocity using SAP data (movement history, picks, shipments)
  • Develop and maintain ABC classification models to support slotting decisions
  • Track and improve KPIs such as pick efficiency, travel time, and space utilization
  • Identify opportunities to reduce congestion, improve flow, and optimize warehouse layout
  • Lead and develop inventory control and receiving associates
  • Train team on SAP processes, slotting standards, and best practices
  • Drive accountability for maintaining slotting accuracy and discipline
  • Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with staff, customers and vendors
  • Lead training programs in safety, proper receiving processes and other necessary areas across the operation
  • Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for warehouse operations at all locations
  • Inspect physical conditions of warehouse, vehicle fleets, or equipment and order necessary testing, maintenance, repairs or replacements
