About The Position

Join the Staples World Class Supply Chain Team as a Warehouse Associate, delivering essential products to customers. This role may involve working in one of six areas: Warehouse Bulk/Material Handling Equipment Operator, Warehouse Porter, Warehouse Replenishment, Warehouse Receiving/Putaway/Returns, Warehouse Returns, or Shipping. Responsibilities vary by area but generally include operating material handling equipment (forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, electric pallet jacks) to pick and move products up to 100 lbs, performing general cleaning and basic maintenance, confirming product accuracy, communicating with contacts to resolve issues, manually unloading trucks, palletizing products, matching and checking in returned items, organizing and shrink-wrapping customer orders, and manually loading trucks. Associates are expected to adhere to safety procedures and maintain a safe and clean workspace. Flexibility to move between these roles, as well as SC1 roles, is required based on business needs. Safety is a top priority in this role.

Requirements

  • An ability to be Material Handling Equipment Operator certified and safely operate necessary material handling equipment.
  • An ability and willingness to keep work area clean.

  • An ability to adopt our safety procedures quickly and ensure safe work practices.
  • An ability to work in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature variations.
  • Minimum three (3) months related experience in a warehouse environment; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen to the extent permissible legally.
  • Basic English language skills (both verbal and written communications).
  • If you are hired as a Full-Time associate, you must have the ability to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift; additional overtime hours will be required based on business need.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet or more as needed.
  • An ability to lift, push or pull boxes/merchandise weighing between 70 pounds and 100 pounds by hand.
  • Must wear safety composite shoes.
  • Ability to walk and stand 100% of the time.
  • You must be at least 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience operating warehouse equipment, such as forklift, pallet jack and cherry picker helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to pick product up to 100 lbs and move product within the warehouse.
  • Adhere to safety procedures.
  • Perform general cleaning and basic maintenance duties both inside and outside of the facility (Warehouse Porter).
  • Confirm accuracy of product and work with colleagues to address discrepancies and damages (Warehouse Receiving/Putaway/Returns).
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external contacts to clarify and resolve issues (Warehouse Receiving/Putaway/Returns).
  • Manually unload trucks and palletize products (Warehouse Receiving/Putaway/Returns).
  • Match item quantities and descriptions to packing slips on returned items (Warehouse Returns).
  • Check in returned product and tag it appropriately (Warehouse Returns).
  • Organize, stack, and shrink-wrap customer orders on pallets (Shipping).
  • Load trucks manually; lift, lower, and carry product in a fast-paced environment (Shipping).
  • Stack empty pallets while maintaining a safe and clean workspace.
  • Ensure safe work practices and embrace our safety culture.
  • Keep work area clean.
