This position will be working Day Shift hours and scheduled days will be Wednesday - Sunday. Position is also eligible for a $3,000 sign on bonus after 90 days - $500.00, 6 months - $1,000, and 1 year - $1,500.00.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.

Responsibilities

  • Operates forklift and other material handling equipment in a safe, efficient manner which assures damage-free material handling.
  • Performs proper preventative maintenance on the material handling equipment including forklifts.
  • Stores and prepares product for shipment in a manner which complies with good safety practices and ensures that the product will not be damaged.
  • Stages the product storage to allow for fast efficient loading.
  • Loads product onto trucks for shipment to the customer.
  • Assures that trucks are properly chocked and stable.
  • Checks floor of truck prior to entering with a load to assure that the floor will support the weight.
  • Loads in accordance with the Bill of Lading, visually inspecting the load first to assure that we are not shipping defective product.
  • Loads the truck in a 'first on - last out' method.
  • Assures that the load is tight and will not shift during transit.
  • Assures that load is exactly in accordance with Bill of Lading.
  • May unload incoming material and equipment following all procedures to ensure a safe, efficient, and damage free unloading function.
  • Maintains proper safety and housekeeping practices at all times.
  • Checks each trailer before loading to insure that it is chocked and has a stand under nose, unless tractor stays hooked up to trailer.
  • Responsible for loading material to be shipped on designated trailers in accordance with bill of lading to insure safe arrival and last on, first off order.
  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program to insure that the forklift is in top operating condition and at all times safe.
  • May perform duties of Receiving Clerk in his/her absence.
  • Assures that all trucks are loaded with proper balance of loads over the rear and front axles in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Is knowledgeable of which products can be stacked in accordance with the customer’s requirements.
  • Coordinates the loading of each truck to assure that the product does not shift in route or during delivery.
  • Assures that each truck scheduled for multiple deliveries is loaded so that the first delivery is loaded last, coordinating loads with deliveries.
  • May perform as the Department Lead Person in his/her absence.
