About The Position

The role of the Warehouse Receiving Lead is to proactively plan, execute, and oversee all receiving and transfer operations of the Receiving Department in conjunction with the warehouse management team. The Receiving Lead will coach the Receiving Associates to safely and efficiently load outgoing merchandise onto trailers and containers and unload incoming merchandise from our vendors and other AFW facilities. The Receiving Lead will coach the Receiving Associates to practice team lifting, utilize hand trucks, and ensure all merchandise is tagged and inventoried correctly. The Receiving Lead will also coordinate and work effectively with multiple departments to continuously improve processes, maximize efficiency and exceed customer service expectations.

  • Prolonged periods of standing: Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, & bend for 8 hours a day.
  • Coaching Receiving team members may require lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping and moving furniture.
  • Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50-100lbs
  • Lift, lower, push and pull all sizes of furniture up to and in excess of 100 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred; related degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience accepted in lieu of diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Appraise employee performance, communicate goals and expectations, provide honest feedback and coach team members.
  • Assist with the training of new employees and ensure that current employees are receiving ongoing training.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems as needed
  • Proactively manage changes in operation of the Receiving Department
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively alongside warehouse management team.
