About The Position

The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA. General Description/Purpose: The Receiver is responsible for accurately and efficiently receiving inbound freight and ensuring that its quality meets our customer’s expectations. The Receiver reports to the First Shift Supervisor

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to read, speak and understand English in order to understand supervisor instructions
Organized, self-motivated and have good communication skills
Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Ability to use the RF gun
High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

Prior receiving experience (Preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

Arrive on time for the start of the scheduled shift
Perform a pre-operation inspection of any equipment being used in the receiving process
Accurate receive items and palletize them for put away
Adhere to HACCP requirements of refrigerated loads
Follow company and SQF guidelines when handling products, including the handling of damaged cases found during receiving
Ensure pallets are properly wrapped to ensure stability though the warehouse
Operate equipment in a safe manner at all times
Verify, UPD, Description, and Pack Size of item being received
Additional duties (selecting, cleaning, replenishing bays, or others) as requested by supervisor
