About The Position

This position supports daily activities for proper operation of shipping and receiving for the organization. The associate will perform physical tasks associated with inbound, outbound, and internal movement of materials and packages. The associate will also perform receiving process to validate products and materials for inventory and immediate consumption, and will support warehouse tasks in stocking, picking, and organization. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and proactive in performing daily and routine tasks of the department.

  • Must possess the ability to operate manual carts, golf cart, pallet jack, and box truck.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, manually manipulate, reach outward, reach above shoulder level, lift/carry up to 100 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, crawl, kneel, squat, bend, grasp and speak.
  • Other physical requirements include vision and sense of touch.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect inbound shipments to detect shortages, damages in transit, broken packages, and obvious defects. Report discrepancies to Supervisor or follow standard procedures to correct.
  • Count and validate content of inbound shipments by matching content to records such as packing slips, invoices, or purchase orders.
  • Hold lead role in the physical movement of materials and packages; involves loading and unloading trucks and moving materials to various warehouse locations.
  • Move or expedite material to proper departments or staging/storage locations using work devices such as hand truck, golfcart, or forklift.
  • Sort and stage shipments for receiving, internal distribution, or outbound movement.
  • Package outbound shipments by selecting appropriate containment and packaging material(s); seal, label and affix postage to the shipment.
  • Use shipping meter to generate postage for various package types.
  • Assemble shipping crates, containers, or supports as required for shipments, involves use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Support internal distribution or collection of materials and packages to multiple locations and departments around campus.
  • Support delivery or collection of materials, packages, and order to local, offsite/vendor locations; size of content may require use of box truck transportation.
  • Assist in stocking material in the warehouse. Involves attention to material/product at hand and selection of correct warehouse bin or location.
  • Recognize material and product stocked in CP warehouse and develop sense of consumption and replenishment process/timing.
  • Assist in picking material and product from the warehouse to fulfill order requests from other departments.
  • Serve as communication liaison for shipping and receiving functions; be attentive to requests and follow through on tasks and communication.
  • Exhibit accuracy, attentiveness, completeness, and care in handling packages and materials.
  • Support workspace safety, organization, cleanliness by performing daily maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in prescribed or suggested trainings.
  • Be proactive in carrying out daily or routine tasks without prompt from Supervisor.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Possess an adaptive mindset
