About The Position

Amentum is looking for a Warehouse Person to join our #pecan team! Essential Responsibilities: The Warehouse Person plays a key role in receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering materials and equipment to meet organizational and customer requirements. This position requires careful attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of orders, proper coordination of deliveries, and compliance with established regulations. The Warehouse Person works closely with customers, drivers, and logistics personnel, applying technical expertise in inventory management, material handling, and documentation. Primary responsibilities include: Receiving & Inspection: Receive and examine incoming orders for accuracy, including verifying item description, quantity, and condition. Create receiving reports and maintain accurate records, distributing copies to the warehouse and finance departments as needed. Forward received items for processing to the Agency-Owned Accountable Property area, ensuring adherence to Agency regulations. Resolve discrepancies identified during the receiving process in coordination with customers and vendors. Warehouse Operations: Warehouse Systems Furniture materials and provide organization and recycling services for conventional furniture. Process excess items in accordance with Agency policies, ensuring proper documentation and procedures. Provide safe and secure storage for customer equipment and materials within designated areas. Material Delivery & Pickup: Coordinate with customers to verify delivery instructions for over-sized equipment and materials. Perform local deliveries and pickups in compliance with customer requirements, utilizing Agency-owned and leased vehicles and Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Ensure all deliveries and pickups meet safety standards and are completed in a timely manner. Database Management: Use applicable computer database systems for inventory management, receiving, shipping, and other operational needs. Maintain accurate electronic records of all transactions, shipments, storage locations, and surplus processing. General Warehouse Support: Assist with logistics and facilities functions such as packing, shipping, storing, and inventory control. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment in compliance with safety standards. Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations. Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be exposed to: Warehouse environments with varying temperature and humidity levels. Moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and material handling equipment. The position requires: Regular lifting, carrying, and moving of materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (and occasionally heavier items with assistance). Standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing during the course of daily tasks. Operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and dollies in a safe manner. Strong visual acuity to inspect items for accuracy and damage and to use computer-based systems for tracking and management. Noise levels may range from moderate to loud during warehouse and delivery activities, requiring appropriate hearing protection as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience in packing, shipping, receiving, storing materials/equipment, equipment shipment coordination, and/or working in a logistics or facilities-related field (entry-level qualifications with an Associate’s degree is two (2) years of experience).
  • Knowledge of applicable computer databases used for inventory, shipping, and receiving functions.
  • Working knowledge of safe material handling techniques and warehouse processes.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical functions for calculating quantities, weights, and shipment details.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks efficiently while ensuring documentation accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and colleagues regarding delivery instructions or discrepancies.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Facilities Management is preferred.
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification is preferred.
  • Forklift certification is highly desired.
  • Experience using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or dollies in a professional setting.
  • Familiarity with Agency regulations and procedures for property accountability and storage.
  • Working knowledge of recycling processes for conventional furniture and surplus processing.
  • Advanced proficiency in warehouse management software or logistics management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
