About The Position

Responsible for accurately selecting, packing, and preparing customer orders for shipment. The Order Picker works closely with other team members to maintain an organized and efficient workflow. They are required to have a strong understanding of their lift, the loads they are carrying, productivity measures, and safety procedures. This role may also serve as a point of contact for newer team members and support special order fulfillment requests.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be able to operate forklift, pallet jack, and reach machine become a certified operator.
  • Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required
  • 1-2 years previous experience in a warehouse setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with products (quality expectations, varieties, case packs) preferred.
  • Understanding of Safety guidelines
  • Strong knowledge of RF systems.
  • Operates forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks, and pallet jacks etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Sense of urgency with ability to work well under pressure.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Able to be flexible regarding tasks and work a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective, positive internal/external working relationships with a diverse group of individuals throughout the organization; a team player.
  • Have an understanding of procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
  • Needs good attention to detail for correct order fulfillment.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Responsibilities

  • Pick and verify orders with a high level of accuracy and speed.
  • Prioritize orders based on shipping schedules or special customer instructions.
  • Identify and resolve picking discrepancies or inventory shortages.
  • Stage, label, and prepare orders for shipment according to customer or carrier requirements.
  • Support cycle counts and contributes to inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Collaborate with supervisors on process improvements and order accuracy reporting.
  • Report to the supervisor at the beginning of each shift for daily assignments, vehicle inspection sheets, and replenishment discrepancies sheets.
  • Inspect assigned machines for safety issues.
  • Verify that the correct product is placed in the appropriate pick location.
  • Cut and remove shrink wrap from all knockdowns.
  • Build stable and secure pallets.
  • Label pallets and number to ensure proper put-away or delivery.
  • Place completed pallets into cooler, dock area and/or truck as required.
  • Assist in properly loading trucks.
  • Remove all empty pallets from pick locations and aisles.
  • Operate the lift in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Enter proper information into productivity measures.
  • Identify the correct pick location and pick sequence according to the order.
  • Pick the correct item and quantity, checking UPCs or item descriptions.
  • Place pick labels on the side of the cases.
  • Correctly identify Master Case locations.
  • Identify and immediately report mislocated products.
  • Shrink wrap and label with correct truck, stop, and other required information.
  • Stage pallets in the appropriate bay.

  • Listen for first and last call and obtain all out-of-stock items in a timely manner.
  • Immediately inform a foreman, supervisor, or manager of any potential safety threats or any violation of company policy.
  • Park and recharge the assigned machines in its appropriate spot at the end of the shift.
  • Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for the location.
  • Obtain aisle-cleaning assignments and keep the area clean and free of debris.
  • Participate in rotation of product and report quality issues to management as required.
