About The Position

The Warehouse Operator will operate several machines in the warehouse that include: Forklift, Wheel Loader, and Baler. The Warehouse Operator will perform various tasks to support all warehouse functions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Forklift experience
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Reliable and excellent attendance.
  • Ability to distinguish between various recyclable materials.
  • Self-starter, maintaining performance standards while working unsupervised.
  • Displays friendly, helpful customer service with the public
  • Ability to get along with co-workers and customers
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Valid forklift certification, loader training, and lockout tag out certification.
  • Must be able to complete company safety certification program.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; can effectively communicate to all levels of management both internally and externally.
  • Strong active listening skills; gives full attention to what other people are saying, takes time to understand the points being made, ask questions when appropriate, and letting others fully state their ideas.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Grasps concepts quickly and has good follow through skills; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise; maintains a positive outlook.
  • Ability to identify the information needed to clarify situations; seeks information from appropriate sources; tackles a problem using a logical, sequential approach and can anticipate the implications of actions.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and twist from the waist and knees; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch and talk or hear.
  • The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, unload, drag and carry from 10 to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to assist the public with physical tasks such as loading and unloading paper, cardboard and other recycling.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to extreme heat and cold weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, noise and fumes found in a shop environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in compliance with all Company policies and local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Safely operate and maintain all equipment associated with the Loaders, Forklifts, Balers and strappers.
  • Conduct daily pre and post trip inspections as required by OSHA and West Seattle Recycling standards.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained to operate and/or maintain all equipment.
  • Monitor and load wire for strappers.
  • Report contaminated loads to supervisors and/or management.
  • Assist customers to the correct location to unload and help if necessary.
  • Load/unload trucks and trailers.
  • Empty tipping bins (trash, glass, etc.) and bunkers.
  • Monitor final products for excessive contamination and report to supervisors and/or management.
  • Maintain a clear and hazard free shipping area.
  • Perform work on weekends, and/or holidays and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
