This role is part of Alcon's Supply Chain function, a team that manages logistics, inventory management, and supply chain analytics for Alcon's industry leading products to ensure products are delivered efficiently and effectively so that people can see brilliantly. The Operator III, Warehouse & Distribution Operations is primarily responsible for handling sophisticated tasks geared toward maintaining efficient warehouse and distribution processes. You will be trusted with receiving and inspecting incoming materials and preparing materials for shipment. You will optimize storage, handle material flows, and ensure safety at our Manufacturing Facility in Houston, TX. Specifics include: Handle sophisticated manual and operational tasks to ensure smooth processes within warehouses and distribution centers Optimize storage space and material flows while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with GxP regulations Coordinate and complete inbound and outbound logistics activities, including shipping, receiving, and routing materials to destinations Perform shipping and receiving duties using hand trucks, forklifts, RF scanners, and computer systems to maintain accurate data Verify quantity, weight, and conformance of materials against shipment records; prepare bills of lading and maintain documentation Pack and prepare items for shipment according to specifications and transportation methods; record received and shipped items Investigate inventory discrepancies using root cause analysis and perform cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy Maintain warehouse cleanliness through 6S practices and find opportunities for improvement (Kaizen) Routinely lift 25–30 pounds, stand for long periods, and work at heights up to 25 feet Apply sophisticated technical skills and problem-solving abilities while adhering to SOPs and quality standards Provide mentorship to team members, lead specific lines when needed, and assist in training new employees by demonstrating best procedures
