About The Position

The Ballistic Technician is responsible for preparing weekly QA targets and shooting them in the ballistic range to assure that production meets minimum performance requirements.  Other responsibilities include conducting tensile testing and slitting line 3 material on line 4.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience operating a pallet jack and fork lift.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Basic English (reading, writing, and verbal)
  • Intermediate Mathematical Skills
  • Any other skills will be a positive

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a Manufacturing environment
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a Team Lead/Supervisory role

Responsibilities

  • Able to work alone and self-directed
  • Consistent attention to details
  • Able to repeatedly follow very specific procedures
  • Assist in other manufacturing tasks as needed
  • Able to trouble shoot range performance issues and initiate solutions.
  • Accurately cut and build target shot packs
  • Operate the hydraulic press for those occasions where molded targets are required
  • Quality check incoming projectiles for proper size
  • Mount and shoot targets per a prescribed method and shot pattern
  • Load projectiles into and shoot the air rifle in the range per specific procedures and safety requirements
  • Operate the velocity measuring devices in the range and troubleshoot when readings are suspect
  • Set up files on the range computer and accurately store data for historical purposes.
  • Store used shot packs in boxes in case needed for future reference
  • Demonstrate range for visitors
  • Work closely with technical engineers on developmental products and techniques
  • Train other technicians as needed on ballistic range functions
  • Perform tensile testing according to procedure and safety requirements.
  • Perform line 4 slitting, as required, according to procedure and safety requirements.
  • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.
  • Develop PC and tablet skills to perform any reports, label preparation, unit to unit moves, and/or any type of PC/tablet function necessary for that area.
  • Promote and encourage site safety with associates.
  • Report and correct any unsafe conditions or equipment within the facility.
  • Safety glasses, ear plugs, and ID badges must be worn at all times.
  • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work/lunch room area.
  • Will be required to participate in cleaning days.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identify and record any issues relating to product, processes and/or quality.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Perform other duties as needed to meet business demands
