About The Position

The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for providing operational support to production by picking, receiving, shipping and inventory management for materials in the warehouse. This position is assigned to Western Shelter, a member of the Western Protective Solutions family located in Eugene, Oregon and will report to the Production Manager.

  • Ability to lift/ move up to 50 pounds of material without assistance.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds with assistance from others.
  • Ability to bend and stand for long periods of time
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced
  • Ability to operate equipment including: LPG Forklift, Standing Forklift, Pallet Jack, Banding Equipment and Office Equipment such as computer, scanner, phone, fax, and copy machine
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver license

Nice To Haves

  • Warehouse experience preferred
  • Previous forklift experience preferred
  • Experience with inventory software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies into the warehouse in a timely manner and ensuring physical movement aligns with electronic movement by use of computer or scanner technology
  • Confirms location of inventory
  • Pulls and verifies materials and supplies listed on production orders/ work tickets
  • Updates ERP System timely for all inventory transactions
  • Assists in preparing finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product
  • Assist in documenting shipments
  • Maintains database, performs physical count of inventory, and reconciles actual stock count to computer-generated reports.
  • Investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies in computation or count
  • Operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area; may lock warehouse and set alarms
  • Ability to operate company vehicles to perform local pick-ups and deliveries as needed
  • Follows and assists in improving established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, and inventory control standards
  • Return all tools and equipment to their designated spot after each use.
  • Regularly inspect, clean equipment, notify supervisor and/or facilities maintenance immediately of machines or equipment needing repair or maintenance, and take any damaged or worn tools out of service.
