HERFF JONES, Distribution Center Lead – Indianapolis, IN YOUR OPPORTUNITY: The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, is looking for a warehouse lead to join our team. Here's How You’ll Make an Impact: Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, this position requires the employee to be able to work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with all Company safety rules. You must be able to recognize and identify colors and various material styles. This position requires excellent communication skills and must be able to work as a Team Player in a Team environment. As a team member of the department you will be required to provide optimal production in the department. Flexibility is necessary to perform other functions as needed. This includes, but not limited to, inventory related activities, and cross-training opportunities in other departments. This position must be able to maintain a neat, clean, and orderly work area and maintain good housekeeping, and other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Must have adequate computer skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions.
  • Needs to have basic working knowledge of Customer Service and Manufacturing Department procedures.
  • Ability to work closely with Manufacturing in requesting product to be made and shipped in a timely manner
  • Ability to work closely with Customer Service in communication of products and orders that may not meet dates due to outsourcing restrictions
  • Ability to understand shipping guidelines and restrictions
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Oracle, Excel, Word.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to select material by quality standards, colors, styles, and shades.
  • Must be able to recognize colors and different cloth styles.
  • Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Job may be require lifting to, but not exceeding 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily activities of Warehouse Order Processing, Accessories and Hoods.
  • Assists in maintaining an uninterrupted flow of orders through the department.
  • Expedites rush and specialty orders to insure their timely delivery to the customer.
  • Makes sure all areas have adequate stock to fill orders.
  • Coordinates the placing of returned apparel back into inventory.
  • Lead trainer for new employees, including seasonal warehouse processing staff.
  • Assists in line processing, inventory control or accessories areas as needed.
  • Assumes responsibility of the department in the supervisor’s absence.
  • Assists in inventory control of all finished goods inventories.
  • Coordinates movement of processed orders to the shipping system.
