About The Position

The Warehouse Inventory and Safety Specialist is a crucial role responsible for managing inventory levels, ensuring product availability, and supporting safety initiatives within the warehouse. This position focuses on maintaining a safe and compliant environment while streamlining procurement processes and ensuring efficient operations in the distribution center.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in inventory control (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of operations and distribution center processes
  • Experience with safety programs and management
  • Proficiency in data mining tools and techniques for analyzing inventory data
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated

Responsibilities

  • Monitor safety programs and initiatives to promote a culture of safety within the warehouse.
  • Maintain accurate records of all warehouse activities, including inventory levels, shipping and receiving documents, and vehicle maintenance logs.
  • Assist in the scheduling of safety training sessions for warehouse staff, new hires, ongoing education, and emergency response drills.
  • Perform regular safety audits and inspections of the warehouse and vehicle fleet to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Investigate accidents and near-misses, document findings, and assist in developing strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance audits, and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Work closely with warehouse management and staff to promote safety awareness and ensure compliance throughout all operations.
  • Keep track of pickups, verify that parts are made ready on time for clients, and prepare for installers to load parts on trucks for each project.
  • Assist in implementing emergency response plans, ensuring that all staff are trained and aware of procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct regular stock counts, and manage inventory levels to ensure product availability.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align inventory management with business objectives.
  • Maintain and update inventory management systems to track stock movements and optimize storage solutions.
  • Report on inventory performance metrics, including turnover rates and stock discrepancies.
  • Develop strategies for effective inventory control and reduction of excess stock.
  • Review all shipping orders for accuracy, ensuring orders are processed in a timely manner.
  • Receive incoming shipments, inspect for damages, and verify quantities against purchase orders, reporting discrepancies and managing returns.
  • Ensure that products are stored in an organized manner, utilizing appropriate shelving and storage techniques for easy access.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling of materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, and maintain equipment in good working order.
