As a Full-Time Warehouse/Donations Assistant, you’ll play an integral role in our vision of a world where everyone has a safe and affordable place to live. The Warehouse/Donations Assistant plays a key role in assisting customers and donors by unloading donations, loading purchases, and maintaining an organized and safe donation dock and backroom area. This position also supports ReStore operations by efficiently moving merchandise to and from the sales floor to ensure a positive customer experience and smooth daily operations.

  • Provide outstanding service to all customers and donors.
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload donated or purchased merchandise for customers.
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload ReStore trucks as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures when moving merchandise to and from the sales floor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized backroom and donation dock area.
  • Clearly communicate the donation acceptance policy to customers and donors; refer donors to alternate options for items that cannot be accepted.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of ReStore products, services, and customer-related policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers as a cooperative and supportive team member.
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and responsibly as required (certification provided as needed).
  • Demonstrate a positive, respectful, and professional attitude when interacting with employees, customers, donors, volunteers, and the public.
  • Exhibit initiative, reliability, and adherence to assigned work schedules.
  • Represent Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain a presentable appearance consistent with ReStore dress and safety standards.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, including Habitat’s Code of Conduct, Safety Policy, and other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Maintain dependable transportation to and from work.
  • Perform other Habitat-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Ability to move and lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to move and lift at least 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climates.
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Certification and operate a forklift on a regular basis.
  • Ability to climb steps to Forklift cab.
  • Ability to move and stand for extended periods of time.
