About The Position

The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for maintaining all activities related to receiving, shipping, and inventory control within the Supply Chain Services department of Family Health Centers of San Diego in accordance with the organizational vision to be exceptional in every way. In addition, the Warehouse Clerk serves as back-up for Couriers and Purchasing Agents as needed.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience in receiving and purchasing required.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Traveling between sites and other locations is occasionally required.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license, an automobile, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended.
  • An acceptable driving record is also required.
  • California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency.

  • Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.
  • Ability to follow both written and oral instructions in English.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-workload environment.
  • Ability to operate and manipulate pallet jack and dolly (hand truck).
  • Ability to read, write and do simple math.
  • Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, research issues and follow through on outstanding projects.
  • Exceptional driving skills.
  • Intermediate computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations.
  • Intermediate interpersonal and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience in inventory process preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, repackages and stages all non-stock items for next day delivery.
  • Marks the outside of the box appropriately for accurate distribution and delivery.
  • Assists the driver with pulling refrigerated items on day of shipment to ensure adequate temperature controls and timely delivery.
  • Places received inventory items on the shelves based on assigned location, rotates any dated merchandise so shortest dated items are in front and are picked first.
  • Maintains inventory levels and monitors and reports frequently used items and items that are not moving to the lead and supervisor.
  • Creates shipments and maintains data entry on deliveries.
  • Is cross-trained on all duties of the Print Shop, Purchasing and Courier.
  • Serves as back up for Print Shop, Purchasing, and Courier, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Receives product from delivery vehicle, validates quantity received against packing slip, inspects shipment for damages.
  • Enters receiving information into the Purchasing system accurately according to procedure.
  • Monitors shipments for partials and back orders.
  • Ensures adequate communication to Purchasing Agent on partial deliveries in order to maintain open communication with customers.
  • Cleans inventory, ensures properly stored and staged inventory.
  • Maintains clean and safe isles and work areas.
  • Cleans and maintains adequately supplied pick carts, dollies and warehouse equipment.
  • Maintains shelving labels and product identification in accordance with purchasing software.
