About The Position

The Warehouse Associate supports Treasure Coast Food Bank’s mission by performing essential warehouse duties related to the receipt, storage, handling, inventory control, and distribution of food and non-food products. This role helps ensure that incoming and outgoing products are processed accurately, safely, and efficiently while maintaining compliance with food safety, sanitation, inventory, and regulatory standards. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for product inspection, stock rotation, order pulling, loading, and unloading shipments, equipment operation, and general warehouse upkeep. This position plays a hands-on role in maintaining an organized, clean, and mission-ready warehouse environment while collaborating with staff, volunteers, agency partners, and the public. What You Will Do: As a Warehouse Associate, you will help move food and essential products through Treasure Coast Food Bank’s warehouse with care, accuracy, and urgency. You will receive and inspect donations, pull and prepare agency orders, rotate inventory, operate warehouse equipment, and support safe loading and unloading of products. You will help maintain accurate records, monitor storage conditions, uphold sanitation and safety standards, and ensure products are handled in accordance with Treasure Coast Food Bank, Feeding America, OSHA, USDA, AIB, and Florida Association of Food Banks requirements. Through your daily work, you will help protect product integrity, support operational efficiency, and ensure food reaches neighbors in need safely and on time.

  • Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, distribution, or food handling preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred but not required at hire; certification must be obtained before the end of the 90-day introductory period
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and agency personnel
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Basic math skills required; must be able to pass a math assessment
  • Must be able to read and understand English
  • Must be comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods; appropriate PPE will be provided
  • Access to reliable transportation required
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and carry products for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks while maintaining attention to detail and safety
  • Exposure to changing warehouse temperatures, noise, and active equipment traffic

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, weigh, and verify incoming and outgoing products
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently
  • Pull agency orders accurately and in a timely manner
  • Label stock and assign product codes to incoming items as needed
  • Ensure products are handled, stored, and distributed in accordance with safe food handling procedures
  • Maintain proper storage separation of food and non-food items
  • Restack, rearrange, and organize products to maximize safe and efficient warehouse storage
  • Ensure consistent use of FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices
  • Verify paperwork associated with all incoming and outgoing product transactions
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and quarterly inventory processes
  • Maintain accurate records related to receiving, distribution, and inventory movement
  • Support inventory accuracy through proper labeling, tracking, and communication of discrepancies
  • Assist in maintaining distribution areas stocked with perishable and frozen products for agency access and operational readiness
  • Follow all applicable safety, sanitation, and compliance standards, including OSHA, Feeding America, USDA, TEFAP, NSLP, AIB, FAFB, fire, building, and county requirements
  • Participate in implementation of sanitation and safety guidelines and standards
  • Monitor warehouse areas for safety and sanitation concerns and report issues promptly to management
  • Check and record temperatures and condition of refrigeration and freezer equipment
  • Maintain the forklift charging area and assist in promoting safe equipment use at all times
  • Help ensure warehouse and distribution areas remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready
  • Operate warehouse equipment and material handling tools safely, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment as assigned
  • Assist with general warehouse operations, customer service, sanitation, and product flow
  • Advise management of facility or equipment repair needs
  • Work cooperatively with staff and volunteers to support warehouse functions and special assignments
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of organizational goals and community impact
  • In instances of a federal, state, or locally declared emergency, Treasure Coast Food Bank is considered an essential business service and emergency responder. All employees may be required to perform regular or emergent duties on-site. Employee safety is balanced with business and community necessity. Some positions are more likely to be required on-site than others.
