As a key player on the Warehouse Team, the Warehouse Associate is responsible for completing daily operations at both the Nina and Javelina locations, including receiving, organizing, cleaning, distributing, documenting, and safely handling all food transactions. This role interacts regularly with the public, including partners, volunteers, and delivery drivers, and will reinforce and model our values with multiple groups internally and externally.

  • Practices safe food handling procedures at all times.
  • Assists in assuring accurate inventory tracking on all products entering the warehouse.
  • Assists with putting away and moving inventory as directed by the Production Coordinator and/or Warehouse Manager.
  • Performs operations on several different classes of forklifts and operates both manual and electric pallet jacks.
  • Is responsible for assisting with the daily activities at the Javelina Volunteer Annex of EFB building, food sorting, bi-weekly Neighbor’s Pantry, and general facility maintenance.
  • Assists with incoming food donations, weighing, receipting, and providing excellent customer service in all interaction with the public.
  • Responsible for the order and cleanliness of the south portion of the Nina facility, including the Agency pick up area, MNP holding area (i.e., Pallets, cardboard, recycle, etc.).
  • Assists with incoming and outgoing food-related activities for TEFAP and CSFP, donated and purchased.
  • Assist with the documentation of receipting incoming food and outgoing agency orders.
  • Assists in the proper organization of the cooler and freezer.
  • Contributes to the team effort of keeping the warehouse and surrounding property clean and well-organized.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager and/or COIO and/or designee.

  • At least three months of previous warehouse experience
  • Ability to acquire Arizona Food Handlers Card and Serve Safe Certification
  • Forklift certification of classes 1, 2, and 3 (or ability to complete successful certification training)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and socio-socioeconomic status
  • Exhibits qualities of maturity, good judgment, and tact, especially when facing conflicting personal and organizational goals, or team relationships vs. personal loyalties.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and personal leadership when faced with issues or opportunities, including unexpected changes in day-to-day activities, or divergence from the standard or usual way of operating.
  • Ability to effectively analyze and resolve routine and complex problems
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel programs preferred
  • Ability to multi-task many projects at the same time while meeting deadlines
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must lift and/or move up to 60 pounds repeatedly for several hours at a time daily.
