About The Position

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for safely moving, securing, packaging, and preparing materials and equipment for storage and shipment, utilizing rigging practices, material handling equipment, and basic carpentry techniques to ensure safe transport and inventory accuracy. This role is based in Cedar Rapids, IA at the Clipper Windpower manufacturing facility, a company owned by Longroad Energy.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in rigging, heavy load movement, or industrial material handling.
  • Experience with carpentry including measurement, cutting, fastening, and use of power tools.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds safely.
  • Strong math and measurement skills (tape measure, fractions, dimensions).
  • Familiarity with forklifts, overhead cranes, or hoists (certification a plus).
  • OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail in counting and packaging tasks.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Safety minded with a proactive approach to hazard prevention.
  • Strong problem solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Reliable, team oriented, and able to work independently when needed.
  • High-quality work standards and consistency in completing tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Safely rig, lift, and maneuver heavy loads using slings, chains, straps, and approved lifting equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and other material handling devices in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Inspect rigging gear, lifting devices, and tools for safe working conditions prior to use.
  • Ensure proper weight distribution and load securement to prevent damage or unsafe conditions.
  • Construct custom wooden crates, pallets, and bracing structures using carpentry tools and shop equipment.
  • Interpret drawings, packing lists, and dimensional requirements to build crates that protect materials during handling or shipment.
  • Measure, cut, fasten, and assemble lumber and plywood accurately to meet specifications.
  • Repair or reinforce existing pallets, skids, and crates as needed.
  • Count, verify, and package materials with high attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Label, tag, and document materials according to company and customer requirements.
  • Inspect packaged goods for accuracy, completeness, and safe transport readiness.
  • Maintain an organized work area and ensure all items are stored securely.
  • Follow all safety rules, standard operating procedures, and equipment guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse, shipping, and production teams to meet deadlines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall warehouse operations.
