The Receiver role within the Distribution Center (DC) of Ocean State Job Lot is responsible for receiving merchandise into the Warehouse Management System using an radio frequency (RF) scanner, adhering to established standards in safety, quality, and productivity. This role also involves unloading trailers and containers, operating powered equipment, and ensuring items are inspected for damage and verified against worksheets, noting any discrepancies.

Requirements

• Successful training and completion of equipment operations in alignment with OSHA standards.
• Ability to operate industrial powered equipment and attain any associated licensing.
• Ability to physically unload merchandise and operate technology such as an RF scanner.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping and attendance standards.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills as required for a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior knowledge of safety related and OSHA, federal and state regulations are preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately complete and submit daily productivity sheets.
• Receive and sort merchandise into warehouse inventory with real time RF scanner to facilitate reporting of shortages, overages, and damages.
• Verify accuracy of freight by inspecting samples of each product.
• Ensure pallets are properly built with no overhang or height restriction violations.
• Work in compliance with standard operating procedures, audit-control procedures, and OSHA requirements.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work space to meet or exceed area safety, quality, and productivity standards.
