About The Position

This position may be a dual position for both the shipping and the receiving departments. Therefore, the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is essential. This position will currently be scheduled 15 - 25 hours/week - flexibility is required as the scheduled hours will vary daily/weekly/seasonally. (Scheduled hours will generally be between 9am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday and Saturdays 9am - 3:30pm. Occasional Sundays during peak seasons). Experience on Fork Lift Trucks and/or Order Picker Lift Trucks is a PLUS but not required. This role will be based at our new warehouse located at 2750 Ellis Drive, Joliet, IL 60433.

Requirements

  • Any warehouse/shipping & receiving experience is a plus, but not required (we are open to entry-level candidates with no warehouse experience).
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Record maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to receive, track and distribute materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count and verify numbers.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates, including some weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on Fork Lift Trucks and/or Order Picker Lift Trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
  • Checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
  • Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisors and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Delivers items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
  • May maintain the department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate shrink wrap machines; may operate company vehicles to deliver shipments; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area; may lock warehouse and set alarms.
  • Follows established departmental policies, and objectives, continuous improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
