As a wholesale distributor, our Warehouse Operator & Backup Delivery Driver are major contributors in establishing Johnstone Supply as a leader in our industry; they work to support local contractors in their day-to-day work to help ensure that everyone who partners with Johnstone is successful.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience), with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly (with occasional heavier lifts using equipment).
  • Skill to operate heavy equipment, including delivery vehicles, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • A safety-first mindset and strong attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL License Preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing the branch delivery operations within the assigned service area. Key duties include safely operating company vehicles, optimizing route sequencing, verifying order accuracy, loading and unloading deliveries, handling product returns, and providing exceptional customer service. This role also involves capturing and relaying customer feedback to support service improvement initiatives.
  • Safely operate company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state, and company standards.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers by providing “exceptional service” that includes accurate and timely delivery of products.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or the need for repairs to the supervisor.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Verify customer shipments against shipping manifests for accuracy.
  • Prepare route to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient deliveries.
  • Fills or assists in filling customer orders by picking products using RF scanner, ensuring accuracy by scanning barcodes; placing and/or packing products into cartons or onto a pallet to provide a damage-free shipment.
  • Drive straight body vehicles, including box truck to deliver supplies and equipment to customers’ places of business or job sites.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the inside of the truck, cab, and box.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive expedited delivery instructions.
  • Immediately communicate delivery, traffic, and safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Record sales or delivery information as applicable, and obtain the customer's signature on receipt for pick up or delivery.
  • Serve as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.
  • Performs general warehouse and other duties as assigned.
