About The Position

The Warehouse Assistant Supervisor is a critical member of our team at the Wyoming Women's Center in Lusk, WY! With the Wyoming Department of Corrections, you will contribute to public safety by exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane management while actively providing offenders opportunities to become law-abiding citizens. This position is responsible for the ordering, receiving, tracking, and distribution of all supplies and commissary items needed for the operations of Wyoming Women's Center, while supervising a team of inmate workers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
  • 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Purchasing or Inventory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Shipping and Receiving Clerk II
  • OR 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Purchasing or Inventory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Shipping and Receiving Clerk II

Nice To Haves

  • Prior correctional warehouse management experience

Responsibilities

  • Manages warehouse, canteen and/or other facilities to include ordering, stocking and inventory control.
  • May supervise up to ten inmate workers in the operation of daily warehouse and/or canteen tasks.
  • Assists in procurement activities.
  • Applies established procedures and regulations in maintaining work unit documents.
  • Researches and corrects discrepancies in inventory documents, requisitions, purchase orders, etc.
  • Follows up on purchase orders by monitoring missed delivery dates and late shipments.
  • Coordinates between staff and vendors concerning price quotes, purchase status and payments.
  • Resolves problems on sales orders, purchase orders and vendor confirmations.
  • Performs detailed product research to ensure the best fit for the requirements of the requester and the department.
  • Monitors frequency of purchases and recommends possible options to increase the effectiveness of purchasing power.
  • Recommends cost-effective, alternative pricing for products shipped to the wrong destination.
  • Maintains business relationships to foster a positive customer service experience.
  • Maintains acceptable inventory levels, keeping out-of-stock and overstock product to a minimum.
