About The Position

This position is responsible for processing different commodities within the Seaboard Solutions warehouse operations both manually and utilizing a forklift and/or other equipment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience operating a 5K forklift to safely and efficiently transport and relocate loaded pallets from container and trailers storing them in the designated warehouse areas.
  • Must have one (1) year of experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Willing to be trained within 120 days to operate mule/yard jockey or tractor trailer as a backup.
  • Must be able to successfully complete on the job training to drive other heavy equipment such as mule/yard jocker or tractor trailer within 120 days of employment.
  • Must possess previous experience performing a variety of physical & labor-intensive tasks.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
  • Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
  • Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule or extended hours based on company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain constant communication with to ensure that the correct load is moved at the right time and to the correct location.
  • Operate 5K forklift equipment to relocate material and load and/or unload pallets, containing shrink-wrapped or loose cartons, rolls or bundles with a variety of cargo from the container or domestic trainer and the designated warehouse areas.
  • Manually pick and pull items from racks based on pick tickets or Loading guides to complete orders.
  • Receive, scan, and verify cargo quantities based on company procedures and customer requirements.
  • Load and unload containers, delivery trucks manually and/or with lift/dolly and verifies incoming and outgoing cargo by weighing, counting and documenting.
  • Inform supervisor immediately of any discrepancies, damages and/or spoiled cargo.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Operate yard truck to pull, transport, load, or empty and loaded containers using standard equipment.
  • Ensure that pallets are stretch wrapped properly before loading or storing.
  • Compare pallet ID label number and Warehouse receipt to make sure that there are no discrepancies before storing or loading pallet to/from warehouse and conveyance equipment.
  • Load container and trailers in a manner to maintain the integrity of the cargo free of damage while ar the same time maximizing the space of the equipment.
  • Perform all functions in accordance with operation and safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine inspection on assigned forklift before operating or making sure it is safe to operate and manually complete the forklift maintenance checklist refer defects or repairs to mechanic personnel.
  • Perform pre-shift mechanical inspection of assigned heavy equipment and immediately report any deficiencies to Mechanic Shop Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, free of debris or safety hazards and awareness of surroundings (i.e., vehicles, people checking equipment, etc.) at all times.
  • Seek out sufficient warehouse space by working with management to efficiently store product in the warehouse.
  • Removes empty skids or pallets and stacks in designated area for future usage.
  • Assist with inventory cycle count.
  • Assist Jacintoport with forklift duties and days in where Seaboard Solutions volume may be low.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
