About The Position

The purpose of this position is to request specification and material information, including pricing and delivery timelines, from manufacturers and vendors, to efficiently and accurately forecast, purchase, maintain stock, and distribute materials, needed to construct and maintain Northcentral’s distribution system.

Requirements

  • A two-year degree in business administration, warehouse management, purchasing and supply, or other related field of study; or High School graduate or G.E.D Certificate may be considered, when accompanied by eight years' experience with electric distribution system or processes that required working with or issuing of materials, sketches, assemblies, apparatus, and supplies used in electric distribution construction and maintenance OR equivalent acceptable work experience required.
  • A thorough knowledge of Northcentral’s approved and applicable material and apparatus is required.
  • Must be able to utilize Windows, Microsoft Office, and specialty Cooperative software/application platforms, computers and iPad, for reports, workflow, job and material tracking, and appraisals.
  • Must have good communication skills, verbally and in writing, and be able to work with Northcentral employees and vendors in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Must be able to make decisions and work without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to attend out-of-town developmental classes, courses, and purchasing conferences.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of inventory control processes and budgeting is desirable.
  • Supervisory experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of quality material, apparatus, and supplies, while ensuring the efficient use of cooperative working capital is upheld.
  • Oversee all transactions involving inventory items and conduct periodic and annual physical inventories to properly account for the use of material items.
  • Maintain a working relationship with several manufacturers and vendor representatives, to help ensure material availability and timely deliveries for sketches, maintenance, and emergencies.
  • Review, determine, and recommend the dismissal or addition of manufacturer and/or vendor based on delivery performance, pricing, and/or material quality.
  • Interviews and confers with vendors and manufacturer agents to obtain product or information such as specification, price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Maintain and supervise reporting staff to create a safe and orderly warehouse and ensure safe working practices, processes, and required equipment inspections are followed in the warehouse and storage areas.
  • Oversee staff to coordinate shipping and receiving of freight items and ensure proper accounting and billing of shipping charges.
  • Work closely with engineering and construction to stay abreast of future work plans to have an adequate inventory of material needed for those plans.
  • Manage, create, and maintain existing material data and specifications in Work Order System to facilitate bid and product requests.
  • Work closely with accounting department for inventory updates, costing, and unit creation.
  • Direct and schedule the day-to-day operations of the warehouse.
  • Utilize reporting area personnel, work management, and electronic staking systems to assist in inventory control.
  • Review completed sketches to help ensure the called for and issued material were utilized or updates were made to the sketches by the crews to reflect the field changes and updated material accounted for.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
