About The Position
As a Warehouse Agent, you will play a crucial role in the aviation industry by ensuring the safe and efficient handling of cargo and mail, including important documents. This position is based in Chicago, IL, and is designed for individuals looking to start their careers in logistics and cargo management. You will be working full-time and will be responsible for various tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency of the warehouse operations. Your role will involve physical acceptance of cargo, conducting security checks, and ensuring that all procedures are followed according to the documented Cargo Handling Manual (CHM) and Ground Operations Manual (GOM). You will also be required to monitor and support external staff during the ULD (Unit Load Device) build-up process, weigh ULDs and trolleys, and sign ULD tags to confirm their acceptance. In addition to these responsibilities, you will be tasked with the physical breakdown of cargo, proper storage, and reporting any irregularities such as missing items or damages. You will also be responsible for handing over freight to customers, ensuring that all security requirements set by the Lufthansa Group and local authorities are observed and applied. This position requires a strong commitment to teamwork and professionalism, as you will be working under constant time pressure and in high-stress environments. The role may also involve shift work and overtime, requiring flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing schedules.
