About The Position

The Ward Clerk in the Emergency Department at Acute Hospital is responsible for performing order entry into the charge logic system, auditing patient documentation, entering discharge information, and breaking down charts for emergency department patients. The role requires demonstrating quality and effectiveness in work habits while remaining flexible to changing systems. The Ward Clerk will answer telephones and coordinate nurses' station activity, treating patients, families, visitors, peers, and physicians with consideration and respect. The position demands the ability to work well under stress or with tight deadlines and to communicate concerns appropriately using the established chain of command. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor as situations dictate. The role supports the District Mission, Vision, and Values Statements, demonstrating respect, professionalism, and courtesy to all stakeholders, and maintaining confidentiality according to District policy and state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Previous office/hospital experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy.
  • Good judgment, initiative, emotional stability, tact, and poise.

Nice To Haves

  • BLS certification recommended but not required.
