About the position

Under general supervision of department manager performs a variety of general clerical functions for nursing unit including transcribing physicians' orders, maintaining patients' records, routing charts and records, arranging for patient care services (lab tests, x-rays, etc.), answering telephones, answering patient call lights to send appropriate help.

Requirements
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Six weeks to three months of on-the-job training is required to learn the unit's routine, policies, and procedures
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience as a unit/ward clerk
- Familiarity with computer (order entry) and medical terminology
