As a Waiver Services Specialist, you'll join a mission-driven team where every day your work brings hope, independence, and support to those who need it most. About the Role As a Waiver Services Specialist, you'll help connect Nebraskans with services that allow them to live safely and independently in their homes and communities. You'll review documentation, conduct assessments, and determine eligibility for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waiver programs, including: Aged & Disabled (AD) Waiver Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waiver Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waiver Your work will directly impact the lives of individuals with disabilities, older adults, and families navigating life-changing circumstances

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and professional experience in: human services, education or health/medical; long-term care, gerontology, rehabilitation, health/disability case management, or children with special health care needs.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, long-term care, disability services, or completing assessments
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and Medicaid waiver services

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate applications and medical records to determine waiver eligibility
  • Conduct initial and renewal Level of Care (LOC) assessments with care and accuracy
  • Communicate with applicants, families, and providers to explain requirements and next steps
  • Represent the agency in appeals or dispute hearings with empathy and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate, timely records while managing multiple cases efficiently
