About The Position

Under general supervision of the Dining Supervisor, the wait staff performs a variety of duties involving preparation and service of balanced meals to the residents of Glencroft. The Wait Staff / Server will possess a genuine interest in and concern for the food service industry and for geriatric, chronically ill and/or disabled persons. Must be able to fluently communicate in or to take or give direction or guidance in the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position and is necessary for the efficient operation of the business.
  • Greets and seats customers, takes orders and serves using proper rules of etiquette.
  • Prepares busses and serves all tables as required to include beverage service.
  • Prepares tables for dining, including tableware, linens, condiments, etc.
  • Washes and sanitizes tables, chairs and meal trays, and various cleaning duties as required.
  • Maintains adequate supply of consumables, including condiments, napkins, straws, etc.
  • Assists in the passing and preparation of meal trays and assists Cooks as requested.
  • Delivers nourishments and snacks as needed.
  • Inspects deliveries ensuring proper items and quantities are delivered and that temperatures are recorded while adhering to safe food handling practices.
  • Tastes and smells prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
  • Maintains HACCP records on a daily basis, monitoring temperatures of hot and cold foods throughout service including prior to, during and cool down to ensure established temperature goals are met.
  • Assist in training and education of new personnel as assigned by the Executive Chef, Manager, Supervisor and or the Director of Dining Services.
  • Ensures that the service area has been secured at the end of the shift. All equipment and lights are turned off and all doors and gates are locked.
  • Practices a safety first attitude reporting any unsafe behavior or working condition in accordance with Glencroft Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work area and equipment as assigned assuming responsibility for the clean and orderly condition of areas and equipment used on the shift.
  • Assists with various duties relating to special activities and functions.
  • Attends departmental staff meetings, in-services and other related meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
