About The Position

We are hiring immediately for full time and part time WAITER/WAITRESS positions at Connecticut College. The schedule may vary, and more details will be provided during the interview. The position involves taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests. Essential duties include greeting guests, delivering food, maintaining sanitation standards, and communicating with back-of-the-house staff.

• Prior food and beverage experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room.
• Take food and beverage orders efficiently, following established steps of service.
• Deliver food promptly and professionally while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
• Assist guests with additional needs or requests.
• Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients.
• Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks.
• Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure correct order delivery.
• Exhibit exceptional communication skills and get along well with others.
• Collect tickets and follow proper cash-handling procedures.
• Promote a clean, safe, and neat environment for guests.
• Address complaints or issues promptly and relay information to the supervisor.
• Ensure the dining room is properly set up before and after service.
• Operate various equipment, including fire extinguishers and coffee machines.
• Work with staff of other departments during special events and functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
