The Wait Staff member serves food and drinks following established guidelines, procedures, and policies for food and beverage safety controls as prescribed by company standards. He or she interacts with guests and staff in a cordial, efficient, and professional manner- rings in guest checks, collects cash, and processes credit charges following company policies and procedures. In addition, the Wait Staff member helps with seating guests, clearing and setting tables, and preparing to go orders. Wait Staff members are responsible for informing guests of specials and any menu changes, as well as offering suggestions and answering questions regarding food, beverage and service. Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include being compliant with all safe alcohol service laws, as well as company policies and procedures with regard to alcohol service, including carding all guests who appear to be under the age of 40. The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and at least one year of experience in a restaurant setting. He or she has previous experience handling money and operating point-of-sales (POS) and credit/debit card processing systems and can work a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Fluent English speaking and written communication skills, good time management skills, and professional dress, speech, and behavior are all required for this position. He or she has the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to observe, react quickly and adjust to different situations involving customers and or team members.
