The HR Wage & Hour Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that California Closets adheres to federal and state wage and hour laws, with a particular focus on California regulations. This position is essential for maintaining compliance and payroll accuracy within the organization. The successful candidate will be well-versed in the evolving landscape of wage and hour regulations and will conduct observations to ensure that both team members and team leaders are following the established standards. This role involves reviewing and generating regular reports on any exceptions to the company's timekeeping standards, which is vital for maintaining operational integrity and compliance. As a remote position, the ideal candidate should reside in California, preferably near one of the company's offices located in Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Francisco. The specialist will be responsible for educating team leaders about wage and hour standards, addressing any questions or issues that arise regarding payroll processes, minimum wage laws, and timekeeping standards. This includes creating and running weekly payroll reports for team leaders, performing both on-site and virtual observations of timekeeping processes, and partnering with front-line leaders to correct any instances of non-compliance. In addition to compliance monitoring, the specialist will escalate issues to General Managers and HR when repeated non-compliance is observed. They will also collaborate with the Payroll team to rectify any payment errors that may arise from timekeeping discrepancies. Training and presentations on wage and hour laws will be a key responsibility, ensuring that all team members are informed and compliant. Furthermore, the specialist will assist in configuring new HRIS systems to ensure they meet wage and hour compliance requirements, while also building and maintaining strong relationships with front-line leaders and General Managers to facilitate seamless timekeeping and pay practices.
