About The Position

The TEEX Fire Academy Instructor is responsible for providing training in various courses for the Recruit Program/Public Sector. Training may be performed online, classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and/or technical assistance. Ulizes knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. Course material is presented using a variety of media. To meet learner needs, the Instructor is responsible for modifying course curriculum when necessary. Maintains skills and a knowledge base adequate to meet current and future instructional requirements. Required to supervise and evaluate student performance as well as competently discuss procedures and techniques and regulations and apply all safety measures. This position reports to the Agency Training Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Four years of experience in firefighting.
  • One year of experience in adult education and/or training.
  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certified Firefighter.
  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041 Instructor I certified or equivalent.
  • Equivalency: Will consider a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an associates degree and two years of experience in firefighting. Must also have one year of adult education and/or training and all required licenses/certifications.
