Wafer Fabrication Process Technician, Quantum AI

GoogleGoleta, CA
1d$99,000 - $140,000

About The Position

In the Device Hardware group, we fabricate wafers to support all of quantum research using specialized tools and equipment. Our work includes research on quantum processor performance and qubit environment, investigation of new technologies, and hardening of current technologies for deployment. Every Google Quantum AI processor design comes through our fabrication lab. As a Wafer Fabrication Process Technician, you will work with hardware engineers to fabricate devices at a wafer level. You will be a critical part of ensuring the smooth operation of wafer fabrication processing infrastructure by ensuring the same level of device quality and accurate documentation. You will also be responsible for performing SPC measurements to monitor process health. Your work will be essential for Google Quantum AI to build scalable and reliable electronics for the next level of computing. The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, other verifiable training in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience working in a clean room environment.
  • 3 years of experience with wafer inspection, lithography tools (e.g., EBL, Coaters, and contact aligners), deposition tools (e.g., Sputter and E-Beam), etch tools (e.g., RIE andICP), measurement tools (e.g., LEXT, Tencor, and AOI), and microscopes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a clean room environment.
  • Experience with microfabrication equipment and processes.
  • Experience handling silicon wafers or similar substrate form factors.
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets and Docs.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate devices using defined instructions and tools.
  • Inspect devices and document defects.
  • Create test wafers and perform measurements for SPC.
  • Maintain process travelers with accuracy.
  • Follow clean room/safety protocols.
