About The Position

Disney Entertainment's eight-owned ABC stations are multiplatform local news and information leaders. WABC-TV has led local news and entertainment programming in the New York City area for more than 60 years. Producing more than 45 hours of live, local news and weather each week, Channel 7 "Eyewitness News" is the most-watched local news in New York and the United States. This is a full-time staff position. The position is covered under the WGA-ABC National Agreement.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of TV newsroom experience
• Strong teammate with positive interaction skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High degree of ethics, empathy, and professionalism
• Ability to function well under pressure in fast-paced situations
• Flexible to work various shifts including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of police scanners
• Experience with online newsgathering

Responsibilities

• Assign crews and reporters for news coverage
• Gather information about developing news stories
• Identify and generate original high-impact stories
• Handle inquiries and requests from individuals and organizations
• Coordinate coverage of breaking and daily stories with news managers and producers
• Identify social media content for news stories and obtain permission for use
• Interact with viewers daily on the phone and on social media
