The W&I Inspector at Old Dominion Freight Line is responsible for analyzing freight to ensure accurate classifications and weights, promoting fairness and honesty in inspections. This role involves processing information through the AS400/SAP system, managing correspondence related to the Weight and Research program, and ensuring compliance with company and government regulations. The inspector plays a crucial role in maintaining the company's reputation and increasing revenue through effective freight inspection and employee motivation.

  • Analyze freight daily to ensure correct classifications and weights have been given by customers.
  • Process information through the AS400/SAP system database such as freight measurement.
  • Responsible for all correspondence related to the administration of the local Weight and Research program.
  • Measure, reweigh, and verify classifications of freight to ensure correct billing.
  • Increase revenue for the company and maintain a certain percentage of freight inspected at the service center.
  • Verification and application of correct NMFC classes and freight charges.
  • Maintain a positive image and ensure OD maintains a quality reputation.
  • Monitor emails throughout the day and follow up with customers or employees.
  • Make sure employees are aware of the reweigh program and motivate them to meet goals.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in all areas of service center operations.
  • Comprehend and ensure compliance with company and government regulations.
  • Ability to work any shift determined by business needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong operational background and knowledge, preferably in the trucking industry.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with rating or inspections preferred.
