The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. This position involves the planning, supervision of, and participation in the day-to-day building and grounds maintenance operations of the Vermont Veterans' Home. Responsibilities include supervision of maintenance and grounds personnel, and, in close coordination with the Vermont Veterans' Home Leadership and the Environmental Services Manager, the development and implementation of systems that provide a framework for building and grounds maintenance services within the facility. Extensive interaction occurs with all key management personnel within the Vermont Veterans' Home, in addition to frequent interactions with the Veterans and Members who we serve. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Environmental Services Manager and Vermont Veterans' Home Administration. Environmental FactorsDuties are performed at the Vermont Veterans Home, a nursing home environment that includes office, classroom, and patient care settings. Direct interactions with residents may be extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Work with pressurized systems may be required on occasion. Incumbent must be able to work outside in all types of weather. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 50 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Climbing, crawling, reaching and standing, for extended periods of time are often required. This position may require emergency response to calls outside of regular work hours. Some potential for physical injury may be present.
