Job Description: The Vulnerability Researcher is responsible for detecting weaknesses across networks, systems, and software, and implementing measures to strengthen the program’s overall security posture. This role develops risk‑based mitigation strategies for networks, operating systems, and applications, and compiles and tracks vulnerabilities and remediation results to measure program effectiveness. The Vulnerability Researcher also creates and maintains vulnerability management policies, procedures, and training, and supports the definition of requirements for information security solutions. The role conducts network‑based and host‑based scans to identify potential attacks or vulnerabilities on workstations, servers, and other network hosts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Programming, or a related field; or 4 additional years equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in vulnerability analysis or a related cybersecurity role.
  • Excellent understanding of network security architecture principles and the nature of application, system, and network threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Must be a US citizen (No Dual Citizenship)
  • Must possess an active Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as CompTIA CySA+, CompTIA Security+, or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Familiarity with enterprise IT environments, security scanning tools, and vulnerability management frameworks.
  • Experience with security solution evaluation and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Detect vulnerabilities across networks, operating systems, applications, and software.
  • Develop and recommend risk‑based mitigation strategies to remediate identified weaknesses.
  • Compile, track, and report vulnerability data and mitigation results to evaluate program performance.
  • Create and maintain vulnerability management policies, procedures, workflows, and training materials.
  • Define and review requirements for information security tools and solutions.
  • Conduct network‑based scans to identify attack vectors and host‑based scans to locate vulnerabilities on servers, workstations, and connected systems.
  • Analyze complex threats and develop effective mitigation or remediation solutions.
  • Utilize security assessment tools, scanning platforms, and analytical techniques to evaluate threat exposure.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within the vulnerability management program.
