The VPS/Industrial Engineering Co-op position at BMW Manufacturing Company is designed to provide students with a hands-on learning experience in a dynamic production environment. From day one, co-op students are integrated into the team, given their own areas of responsibility, and encouraged to contribute their ideas. This role is pivotal in managing VPS initiatives, driving continuous improvement, and implementing problem-solving strategies across various production areas within the Body Shop. The co-op will engage in three rotations, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the production processes and continuous improvement measures. In this role, the co-op will support the implementation and roll-out of new VPS and continuous improvement initiatives, projects, and vehicle launches. They will analyze production data, such as cycle times and other key performance indicators (KPIs), and report these results to management. Additionally, the co-op will assist in conducting Industrial Engineering time studies and production analysis workshops, which are essential for identifying efficiencies in the production line. The co-op will also play a significant role in training, developing new approaches to educate the workforce on VPS principles, and participating in time studies and workstation layout assessments. They will be involved in creating standard operating sheets for production station processes and may support or lead other projects aimed at enhancing production efficiency, such as cycle time improvements. Furthermore, the co-op will be responsible for creating new templates for VPS, 6S, Industrial Engineering, and the BMW Work Organization as required or requested.
