About The Position

In-Plant role - See client specific information below in Job Requirements. Position Summary This position creates, leads and maintains the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (“VPP”) initiatives and ensures the facility achieves and sustains its status. Essential Job Functions Leads the development, implementation, and ongoing sustainment of a comprehensive OSHA VPP program from inception through Star certification Serves as primary coordinator for site’s Voluntary Protection Program (“VPP”), ensures compliance with OSHA Star Requirements Identifies and resolves compliance gaps to ensure alignment with OSHA and VPP Star standards, drives continuous improvement and maintains ongoing site readiness for VPP certification Leads and manages preparation for VPP certification audits and onsite evaluations, including documentation, employee interviews and facility readiness Facilitates and supports employee driven safety committees while coordinating involvement initiatives and recognition programs to promote engagement and participation at all levels of the organization Develops, implements and monitors corrective actions resulting from audits, inspections, and incident investigations while supporting incident investigation teams to ensure lessons learned are incorporated into VPP initiatives Conducts root cause analysis for incidents, near misses, and hazards; communicates findings and ensures timely resolutions Monitors, analyzes, and reports on safety performance metrics and trends to leadership and workforce Develops and delivers training, communication, and awareness programs including safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and campaigns to promote a proactive safety culture and support all VPP elements Maintains and manages all required VPP and OSHA compliance documentation, including records, reports, annual self-evaluations, performance metrics, and continuous improvement plans Collaborates with EHSS, operations, maintenance, and leadership teams to identify and mitigate workplace hazards while embedding VPP principles into daily work practices Supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying program gaps and recommending innovative solutions Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety at all times; participates in and/or leads safety teams or projects as appropriate Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience EHS&S related work in an industrial or manufacturing environment, including experience leading or supporting OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, regulatory compliance requirements, EHS management systems, and VPP Star program expectations
  • Experience preparing for and supporting external audits or evaluations (OSHA, VPP recertifications)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and track corrective action plans, conduct incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and analyze safety performance trends
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional safety committees and employee engagement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and employee involvement
  • Strong facilitation, collaboration, and communication skills, including training delivery, reporting, and presentation to all organizational levels
  • Ability to identify gaps, recommend solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and follow through on assignments
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
  • Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization
  • Associates Degree with equivalent experience in EHS, Safety Compliance, or manufacturing safety programs required
  • Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement
  • Detailed working knowledge of Policies and Procedures related to project work.
  • Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
  • Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
  • Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
  • Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
  • Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
  • Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred
  • VPPPA training, Safety & Heath Management coursework, or relevant certifications (e.g., CPS, ASP, CHST) a plus
