About The Position

The Voluntary Pre-kindergarten Education Program, VPK, prepares early learners for success in kindergarten and beyond. VPK helps build a strong foundation for school using educational material corresponding to various stages in a child's development. The VPK Assistant Teacher is responsible for instructing 4-year old's, based on needs of each child, and the requirements of the program under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.

Requirements

• Associates in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field, or an active CDA in Preschool.
• Experience in a licensed childcare center or related field.
• Ability to meet state requirements for education and center requirements.
• Ability to work indoors or outdoors and engage in physical activity with children.

Responsibilities

• Instruct 4-year old children based on individual needs and program requirements under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.
• Follow all licensing guidelines, company standards, and grant program requirements to ensure daily care of every child in the classroom.
• Develop the ability to accurately observe, assess, and plan for children.
• Effectively communicate with families regarding children's progress and needs.
• Implement curriculum while creating fun, interactive learning experiences for the children.
