About The Position

AECOM’s Water business line is seeking a VP, Water Resources Practice Leader, to support growth, client engagement, and delivery execution in the New York / New Jersey market. This role provides leadership for a multidisciplinary water resources team of approximately 10–20 professionals delivering planning and A&E services for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state and local government clients. The Senior Manager is accountable for project performance, team utilization, client satisfaction, and consistent execution of contracted commitments. This position functions as a seller/doer Senior Manager, working in close partnership with regional leadership, strategy and growth teams to include DoD and civilian agency Market Sector teams, and marketing professionals to support capture planning, proposal development, and major pursuits. Responsibilities include shaping pursuit strategies, identifying and closing pipeline gaps, developing compliant and competitive bid packages, and strengthening key client relationships. This role supports business planning activities and contributes to sustained growth of the NY/NJ Water Resources practice. The Senior Manager will provide day‑to-day leadership to interdisciplinary teams delivering complex water resources projects and programs, including coastal storm and flood risk management, stormwater infrastructure, flood mitigation, and dams and reservoirs. This role emphasizes delivery excellence, technical quality, risk management, staff mentorship, and effective collaboration across disciplines and geographies.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree plus 12+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years as a Program Manager, Senior Project Manager, or equivalent leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience supporting business development, capture planning, and proposal development efforts
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work
  • Travel is required for this position

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing complex water resources projects or programs, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk
  • Proven experience delivering projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to include the New York District, and state and local government clients in the geographic vicinity
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing workload, schedules, and delivery performance
  • Demonstrated commitment to staff development, mentoring, and performance management
  • Knowledge of the NY/NJ water resources market, including consulting, planning, design, engineering and integrated delivery services

  • Experience supervising and mentoring project managers and senior technical staff
  • Effective communicator with the ability to support client meetings, lead internal coordination, and contribute to presentations
