About The Position

Hillel International is seeking a bold, strategic, and organized leader to serve as the VP/SVP of Student Leadership & Engagement. In this senior role, you will help drive Hillel’s movement-wide strategy to empower the next generation of Jewish leaders, deepen student belonging, and strengthen Jewish life across more than 850 campuses and 200,000 students. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position will lead a high-impact team responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling programs that engage and develop thousands of student leaders each year. Key responsibilities include identifying and ideating new opportunities to engage students and build student leaders across our movement. You will be a big thinker, creative ideator, and enthusiastic advocate for innovative strategies to engage students and student leaders on campus. This includes overseeing a team that is responsible for flagship initiatives such as the Hillel Leadership Institute (HLI), Regional and National student gatherings, the expansion of the HillelU training and development platform for students and their career development, and several other student engagement and student leadership cohort programs supported through other parts of the organization. The VP/SVP will lead cross-functionally across multiple Hillel International departments and the Hillel Movement to drive innovation, inspire engagement, and achieve measurable results, including advocating for and reporting on the outcomes of the entire portfolio.

Requirements

  • Analytical thinker, synthesizer and effective communicator. You can analyze a variety of inputs - the latest research, relevant articles, conversations with practitioners across the movement - and synthesize and distill it into a series of actionable insights and best practices that others will be able to use. You write and speak clearly and effectively to share ideas – in articles, blog posts, podcasts, or in other forums of learning for the Hillel movement and the Jewish sector.
  • Social Entrepreneur: You are energized by innovation and entrepreneurship - bringing a bias for action, organizing around change, and embracing new ideas and opportunities.
  • Credible practitioner who demonstrates deep and sophisticated knowledge of Hillel movement. You have significant experience in the work of Hillel and the perspective of a field professional.
  • Collaborator who earns informal authority and exhibits horizontal leadership: You are respected by colleagues and motivate a spirit of collaboration and partnership to make things happen.
  • Results oriented you are driven by measurable goals and are constantly evaluating progress and adapting your approach to get the results desired.
  • At least 10+ years of leadership experience in higher education, student affairs, Jewish education, youth leadership, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling learning programs or leadership pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading and managing Hillel’s movement-wide strategy to develop a new generation of Jewish leaders through educational, ritual, and immersive, purpose-driven experiences.
  • Connect student leadership initiatives with Hillel’s broader engagement strategy, ensuring offerings reflect student interests, field priorities, and measurable outcomes based on research and evaluation insights.
  • Own a movement-wide leadership portfolio that includes scalable experiences, digital learning platforms, and real-time engagement strategies.
  • Evolve and expand this portfolio in collaboration with colleagues across multiple Hillel teams to achieve outcomes aligned with the Strategic Plan
  • Manage the overarching portfolio in a matrixed capacity with other departments to steward shared programs and frameworks and be responsible for the collective student leadership and engagement outcomes
  • Responsible for budget management, evaluation, proposal writing, and reporting.
  • Foster a collaborative, purpose-driven culture that emphasizes inclusion, trust, growth, and excellence.
  • Supervise a team of individuals who are responsible for the implementation and execution of the student leadership strategy - including training, direct delivery, and student cabinet.
